Once UI 1.5: Curiosity in code

Every product reaches a stage where adding more isn't progress — refining what's there is. Once UI 1.5 is that moment. It's not a radical overhaul. It's the quiet, deliberate improvement of the foundations.

Refinement as exploration. Motion as meaning. Curiosity in code. — Lorant
Every product reaches a stage where adding more isn't progress — refining what's there is. Once UI 1.5 is that moment. It's not a radical overhaul. It's the quiet, deliberate improvement of the foundations. The small changes that make everything smoother, faster, more alive.

Ever-improving foundations

We've spent weeks rewriting the invisible parts of Once UI — the things that rarely get praise, but make everything work. Accessibility is stronger. Dropdowns behave better. Keyboard navigation is smoother. It's the difference between "it works" and "it feels right." The reworked UserMenu and Option components handle nested dropdowns, avatars, and grouped actions natively — no custom wiring required.

Motion to support, not distract

Once UI has always been about bridging function and emotion — tools that make interfaces feel alive. This update adds new motion components and visual effects that help you express meaning through interaction.

Instead of distracting animations that kill performance, we focus on interactions that support visitor intention — like HoverCard, which adds rich, accessible hover previews (see it live in the Once UI docs). We provide out-of-the-box solutions for trending UI patterns, so you can focus on building a familiar experience.
Thinking...
Motion is an integral part of Once UI. It's the last percent that refines the edges.

Attention to the smallest details

Sometimes progress hides in the details. Inputs now show character count natively. Cards handle border radius more gracefully. Background lines render more beautifully. Flex layouts adapt automatically to custom breakpoints.

Once UI 1.5 isn't just a new version. It's a commitment — to reliability, refinement, and the pursuit of tools that feel effortless to use.
This is what happens when you focus not on features, but on the story.
